I felt that I misdefended this hand by not continuing with a second ♠ when in with the ♥Q (Edit - not ♥A as originally posted). So he got his ♠ loser away by way of ruffing ♣ finesse.

I had been worried about him eliminating ♠ and putting me in with ♣ to lead away from ♦Q while there was still a trump on table. I was overthinking it, perhaps, but influenced in part by my expectation of a fourth ♠ in partner's hand on the bidding. I don't think North should bid 1♠ once the redouble gives South another bid. Especially since the description of the bid requires a 4th card

No, right hand, but there was a typo in the narrative that might have confused. ♥A changed to ♥Q as point at which I got in and should have continued ♠.
