RunemPard
My gf and I were not having the best session tonight, and ran into a hand that just made me smile. Our opponents were novices. [hv=pc=n&w=shj542dq9cakqj984&n=st8764h86dat8432c&e=sk53hqt3d7ct76532&s=saqj92hak97dkj65c&d=w&v=n&b=1&a=3np4cx5cppp&p=hah2h6h3hkh4h8hth7h5d2hqc2]400|300[/hv] Partner's choice of opening gambling was...different, but it certainly didn't hurt us here. The opponents had never played against gambling before, and were provided detailed descriptions of the bids, but still opted to pass out 5c. When north failed to trump the heart, I could not help but look at south to see one of the most priceless looks of confusion I have ever seen at the bridge table. P.S...The layout of the hand allowing for any number of club sacrifices to hurt us even more made it even more amusing...

ArtK78
Why did you post this hand? To make fun of your opponents?I think it is pretty amusing. You just have to get amusement from the game where you can find it.
ggwhiz
I think it is pretty amusing. You just have to get amusement from the game where you can find it. I agree. See the most hopeless/clueless comment thread. No one is named and it's pretty entertaining.
aguahombre
Why did West raise a p/c bid?sacrifice? The P/C bid, IMO, should have been 4D; the unilateral decision by West to sac 5 is more strange by far than the choice to open G3N. Finch
The P/C bid, IMO, should have been 4D; the unilateral decision by West to sac 5 is more strange by far than the choice to open G3N. Traditionally 4D asks for opener's shortage; you can't make a 4-level POC bid opposite a gambling 3NT opening.

I am not traditional. Of course, our 3NT opening is not "gambling", but rather the non-traditional broken 8-bagger ---so I don't really know what works best opposite a gambling 3NT.
