chasetb
I have two issues with the hand below. First, here is the hand and the bidding. [hv=pc=n&s=skh9dakj82caqt743&n=sq6h7542dqt963ck5&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=pp2s3c4spp4nppp]266|200[/hv] 1.) Over 2♠ (or 2♥ for that matter), why isn't 4NT showing both minors? When I hovered over the description, it was --- . Over (2M) - X - (Pass / 3M / 4M) - Pass - (Pass) ; 4NT should again be for the minors, but show a stronger hand than 4NT directly. 2.) Over 2M, bidding 3♣ and then 4NT should show stronger/longer Clubs, and a second suit.
Stephen Tu
1.) Over 2♠ (or 2♥ for that matter), why isn't 4NT showing both minors? When I hovered over the description, it was --- . Over (2M) - X - (Pass / 3M / 4M) - Pass - (Pass) ; 4NT should again be for the minors, but show a stronger hand than 4NT directly. I think the more standard adv/exp treatment is to have (2M)-4M show stronger minors than (2M)-4nt. It can be rather bad to have auctions like (2S)-dbl-(4S)-5H, or to play in 2S-dbl when you really wanted to play 5 or 6 of a minor scoring better. georgi
Thanks for reporting. V29 will contain some changes about cuebid-overcall of 2weak opening. Close to Michaels type. 2♦ - 3♦ -> majors 2M - 3M -> 5+ in OM and a minor 2M - 4M -> strong minors 2M - 4NT -> just shape minors, less strength than above. Currently it shows just 19+TP and nothing more about shape.
Stephen Tu
I know from forum some experts like 2M-3M as Michaels (e.g. Joe Grue), but I think more common is for 2M-3M = ask for stopper for 3nt. Which should GIB do? Should we want GIB to be playing leaping Michaels? Hard to say, GIB plays a fairly complicated card in general, leaping Michaels is semi-standard for advanced players but lots of less experienced players wouldn't know it. The GIB card should be simplified in a lot of areas I think, given the general population of BBO.
