aguahombre
Yes, and in these cases upvoting is better than just posting that you agree, if you have nothing to add. Although of course sometimes we are forced to do this when the post is by a yellow.Yes, when the yellows are right, that occurence is worthy of recognition.
gwnn
Of course, many of us upvote posts simply to say "I agree with this" or "that's what I was going to say", etc.Sure, me too. It wasn't a serious suggestion.
barmar
IfI promised something, it was to wait for the outcome about of thisthreat, hoping on the existence of general consensus, on what Avoting system should look like.On November 26, you wrote to me:Do you mean that I only can upvote what "the others" like ? The Brave New World ?Did your Directory ever define the criteria for upvoting ?Who complained ? In the mean time, I sent you my dearest respects....and wil not upvote again.3 days later, you started upvoting again. It's not our policy to reveal the names of people who submit complaints. If they want to reveal themselves to you, they can contact you directly or speak up here, but the report system is private communication between users and moderators. Fujiko
Posting private messages is kind of an icky thing to do, FYI. As someone without 50 posts: Agreed. Also, I'm a lurker here. I have very few posts, but I do read all corners of the forum... Coming from this position: I am awaiting all your reactions to what I consider an act of intellectual censorship by Barmar. This quote kind of bothers me. I feel like this is a space provided by BBO for discussion of many happy things - all aspects of bridge, the software, whatever we want within reason, etc. As a space provided by BBO, BBO is allowed to try and shape it, to create the environment they want. (And honestly to me, it feels like a fairly permissive one.) Sure, people are allowed to try to use the voting system how they want. Heck, passing out a bunch of upvotes seems like a nice thing to do. I don't really know the people involved here, don't understand motivations fully, etc. However, barmar et al are allowed to determine what they consider abuse of the system. When they do, it's not intellectual censorship for them to do so. It's them keeping the space they provide for us in the shape they want it. We're in their house. As such, it's both respectful, and wise (lest we find ourselves on the doorstep looking in!) to respect their wishes as best we can.
Lurpoa
Did you not see the one from JLOGIC? And the snarky comment from gwnn, which was upvoted by several people? No.

But it was the last solution I had.Barmar isn't of the "let's discuss" type...... Be THE ♥ with you
