albatroc
Hi, http://tinyurl.com/lnftnqb - E-W first-time pair playing SAYC. The bidding came short even of a slam try. Sitting E and being uncertain about pd's limit after 2S – F1 or FG, I was mainly concerned with reaching the (best) game. How would you bid and play, please? billw55
I suggest that west bid 3♠ instead of 2♠. That would show real support, not just preference, and also good values. After 2♠, east must consider possible west hands such as xx xx KQx KQJxxx where slam is nowhere in sight. In fact playing SAYC, I am not sure that 2♠ is forcing at all. mr1303
It isn't. It shows a 3 card limit raise.
aguahombre
SAYC, again, is the Yellow card. 2S after 2C neither shows 3 spades nor G.F. Limit raises with 3 or 4 trumps jump raise the first time.
Antrax
If 2♣ isn't game forcing, then W should rebid 3♠ over 2♥. This shows 3 card support and is forcing to game, leaving room for cue bids (or 3NT serious/frivolous which isn't a part of SAYC AFAIK). Over 3♠ from W, E should show his first round diamond control and better than minimum hand by bidding 4♦.
