Diagram is accurate. Basically E passes his 6-5 (I suspect some would open it), then over a takeout double bids his short suit for some reason. Still okay but then W apparently decides his T is 4+ hearts, and never changes his mind. Not sure why my psyche drove it insane like that.

Thanks for reporting.

Psyche didn't entirely confuse EW GIBs. It could be regular opening with 11HCP and North to raise based on some shortness.

Problem was in rules in for competitive jump in suit.

Fixed in v29.

At the moment, for GIB in this kind of auction, 3 by East doesn't show both majors, so jump in new suit or something else depend on particular auction would be used.

3M showed 4+ cards and 10-12TP.

Which is going to change, though?

1) Will E open his hand?

2) Will E bid the longer suit in response to TO double?

3) Will 4m over 3M from E be a real suit instead of cue bid by W?

The way I see it, there's some blame to both bots as well as the system, so I'm curious which of these will be fixed.

1) No, at the moment GIB opens with 11+HCP level 1. And especially with both majors that hand cannot open 2 either.

2) Yes. With 5+4+. With 5-5 higher as rank, with 4-4 hand will bid lower. But with 4minor-4major, will bid first major. So here if the hand was 4-4, the call will be 3, not 3, as supposedly partner wants major first. So generally with 4-4 minors, 4-4 majors, it will bid lower first.

3) It will be if partner doesn't cuebid. 4 or cuebidding oppening settles that suit as trump. How then you will distinguish cuebid from new suit at level 4 after if it says just 5+4+ cards in majors

But let say auction went:

1 - X - 2 - 3

p - 4 - p - 4 now will be hearts, not cue for GIB

Or similarly when partner of opener is not involved at all.

1 - X - p - 3

p - 3 - p - 4, all suits are natural

2) Yes.

This is just not correct to bid lower first with 4-4 majors, or to bid only one major with 5-5 or 5-4. 6-4 maybe OK just pick 6 card major. Holding enough strength to cue bid (~10+ total points), GIB's priority should be to cue bid with both majors, even if one is slightly longer. This way ensure get to 4-4 or 5-4 fit, because doubler will have 4-cd major like 95+% of the time, and you don't miss your best fit. If not enough strength to cue bid, it should bid HIGHER not lower.

In takeout double auction by partner, bid one major generally should not have other major, except at lowest level bid.

One does not respond to takeout double the same way as one respond to opening bid! The hand types partner can have are different, your priorities are different, the way he will follow up are different. For example with 4-4 in majors over opening you bid 1h, because with 4 cd spade and not 4 cd heart, partner will bid spade! So you find 4-4 fit either way. But with 4-4 over takeout double, if you bid heart, partner cannot bid spade unless holding 5 spade and 18+ (too strong to overcall). So you cannot get to spade easily unless responder have another chance to bid, and may be awkward level, and in some case partner would have to prefer back to hearts at higher level. That is why you bid higher first when not cue bid, in response to takeout double. Then if another chance (not broke & opps compete, or partner bid something strong), show other one, and you are still at same level.
