JackRe
Here are a couple of bids by my Robot partner I don't understand: 1. # 9709 MP--Board 5--Robots rarely acknowledge penalty bids.On this hand, the opponentss bid 6 Hearts and I doubled. Partnerwent to six spades and we go down for a poor board. 2. # 5232 MP--Board 5--Why didn't partner open his hearts? We endedup with a poor club contract. For opening 3M in V vs NV is also not possible. It would be addressed for review anyway. Bidding 2♥ instead of 2♦ is a problem which will be fixed in next v29. #9709 - #5[hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=pn|JackRe,~~M14196,~~M14194,~~M14195|st||md|3S2348QAHD9QC278KA%2CS9TKH24569JD36C46%2CS567JHTD2TJAC35TQ%2C|rh||ah|Board%205|sv|n|mb|p|mb|1H|an|Major%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%20|mb|1S|an|One-level%20overcall%20--%205%2B%20S%3B%208-17%20HCP%3B%209-|mb|4H|an|Preemptive%20raise%20--%204%2B%20H%3B%209-%20HCP%3B%206%2B%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|4S|an|17%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20S%3B%2019%20total%20poi|mb|p|mb|p|mb|5H|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|5S|an|2%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%20|mb|6H|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|d|an|2%2B%20H%3B%2017%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20S%3B%2019%20tot|mb|p|mb|6S|an|2%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2010-12%20total%20points%20|mb|d|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|p|pc|C6|pc|CT|pc|CJ|pc|CA|pc|DQ|pc|D6|pc|D2|pc|DK|pc|HQ|pc|S2|pc|H9|pc|HT|pc|D9|pc|D3|pc|DA|pc|D8|pc|SJ|pc|H3|pc|S3|pc|SK|pc|C4|pc|C3|pc|C9|pc|CK|pc|SA|pc|S9|pc|S5|pc|H8|pc|SQ|pc|ST|pc|S6|pc|H7|pc|S8|pc|HJ|pc|S7|pc|D7|pc|C2|pc|H5|pc|CQ|pc|D5|pc|DT|pc|D4|pc|C7|pc|H6|pc|DJ|pc|HK|pc|C8|pc|H4|pc|C5|pc|HA|pc|S4|pc|H2|]400|300[/hv] Book and most common bid is pass, though, but after simulation unexpressed hand by North, singleton in opps' suit and super support probably made it bid more.4♠ shows more then AQ for GIB at the moment, so it doesn't expect trump trick for opps. Despite "error", it's still looks like 75% slam, so not so bad effort anyway.Just being 25% lucky, instead of 75.
Bbradley62
#5232 - #5Opening 2M has currently some restrictions and cannot open with similar hand. For opening 3M in V vs NV is also not possible. Can you tell us more specifically what those restrictions are for 2M and 3M? If we posted this hand in a new "Advanced Players" thread and asked players what their first-seat call would be from among Pass, 1♥, 2♥ and 3♥, I'd expect Pass to be the least popular answer. #9709 - #54♠ shows more then AQ for GIB at the moment, so it doesn't expect trump trick for opps. If this is true, the description should be changed. The description says "twice rebiddable spades" and according to the posted documentation, this includes a six-card suit with 4+ 8421HCP, which this hand certainly qualifies for. This hand even meets the requirements for "strong rebiddable", which would be a six-card suit with 8+ 8421HCP.
georgi
Pass is not good for sure. But for 2M currently there is a restriction with just 6 cards. Hand is too strong for 3M, and unfortunately there is a gap which bothers to open 1M due 1st position. That will be addressed for review as it obviously it hardly find place after once it's passed. Even bidding 2♥ later wouldn't make partner comfortable it shows what has. About 4♠, explanation is common as captures many cases, but the quality script partner expects for self-approved suit here is if 6+ ( 4/5 honors or at least AKQ ) , if 7th little lighter. Note the vulnerability also. You will hardly be expected to make sacrifice in VvsNV.

You will hardly be expected to make sacrifice in VvsNV.I'm still not happy about the description of 4♠ not fitting GIB's actual expectations, but... the description of South's spade holding and his overall strength does not change between his 4♠ bid and his double of 6♥; it cannot be right for North to both pass 4♠ (choosing to play game and not investigate slam) and to later bid 6♠.
