North's 4S bid already denied a club control.A new suit by North over 3S should be a cue bid in support of Spades.
luis
I think 5d is a mistake :-)The 4sp bid seems to deny a club control or he would have bid 4c instead of 4s.I'd pass 4s and probably make some comments about dummy :-)
Codo
to pass 4 Spade is no good idea because the bidding is at the 5. level already B) But there could be 2 possibilities for the bid: 1. Don´t knowing that 4 Spade from pd denied a club control. 2. showing a lead against possible 6 Club but willing to play at least 5 Spade. Obviously the second idea was what North thought and the first idea was what South thought. :) Kind Regards ROland
