Antrax
I suspect others will disagree with the below: 1NT-2♣2♦-4♦ (delayed Texas)4♥ Without the delayed Texas gadget, I end in 4♥ by north after a ♠ transfer and heart rebids by N. TWO4BRIDGE
For this once in a lifetime deal just transfer to your 7 card Major: 1NT - 4D! ( Texas )4H - 5C! Exclusion )5S ( 3rd step = 2 - ♥Q ).... - 6H
Cyberyeti
1. it's not a great slam, I don't really care if I'm in it. 2. I feel the hand is too good for a 15-17 1N (K&R gives 17.95) 3. I play a weak no trump anyway so: 1♣-1♥2♦-2♠*3♣-3♠4♥-P Partner doesn't have A♠ and only has 2 hearts, slam is very unlikely to be better than it actually is, partner might well have bid 3♥ rather than 3♣ with AQ. Zelandakh
Another hand where the key decision seems to be whether Opener treats their semi-balanced hand as balanced or unbalanced. If balanced then effectively a reprint of Antrax's auction: 1♣ = 15+ nat/bal or 18+ any... - 1♥ = GF with 4+ spades (if bal then 44(32))1NT = 15-17 bal... - 2♣ = major ask2♦ = <5 hearts, <4 spades... - 4♦ = puppet to 4♥4♥ If unbalanced then: 1♦ = up to 17, 4+ diamonds, unbal... - 1♠ = less than invite, 4+ spades2♣ = nat... - 2♥ = nat, 5+ hearts2NT = extras, nat... - 3♥ = nat, cog4♥
JLOGIC
I'm sure I'd start with 1C 1H2N The hand is way too good for a 1N opener, but I still think showing it as a balanced hand is better than showing it as a reverse. After that who the hell knows lol, depends on methods etc.
Antrax
This is depressing. I look at the hand and see doubleton jack and lousy long suit, yet this is another upgrade.
gszes
The hand is slightly too good to open 1n and with so much of my stuff located in the minorsAND easy way to show my distribution I feel it is much better to begin with 1c followed by 2d. This has the benefit of leaving NT for p to bid (or avoid) and probably right sides NTif that is our final destination. probable auction 1c natural1h natural 2d reverse2h at least 5 hearts forcing2s generally will deny heart support and the ability to bid nt since no minor suit rebidhas a strong tendency to be 3145 2146 2245 3h 6+ hearts game forcing (3h over 2d = 6+ hearts and weak)4c cue bid denies ability to cue bid 3s.we have a sure spade loser but our hand is so good we still have slam possibilities so too cowardly tosign off even opposite wasted club values.4n rkc 1430 5h 2 w/o heart Q. The BEST we can hope for is a spade loser and p having the dia A vs theclub A and hearts breaking 22. Not a great slam at this point PASS
monikrazy
After 1N I would just transfer to hearts and check controls with RKC Gerber. Missing queen and 2 aces we can stop safely. Of course, if you are using 4C as a splinter this doesn't work. 1N - 2D - 2H - 4C - 4H (2 or 5 no queen)
Zelandakh
@monikrazy, what RKCG responses are you using that the second step is 2 or 5 without trump queen? That is before mentioning the problems of using this route with a void.
