2nd round of bidding at the 5 level

Recommended Posts

Are there no UVU agreements? They are so common that I would fear Partner has all the high cards in the deck that you don't have ---and you have underbid by about two bullets on the 1st round.

If you have an uncommon agreement that 3S showed anywhere near this power (or if there is an error in the post and you really bid 3D to show strength and Spades), then try a 6C control bid. 5H would sound too much like you have hearts.

No UVU. 3 just showed spades and was forcing.

O.K., I guess I still bid 6C; but it is probably just a waste of time. How can partner have as little as KQXX AKXXX - XXXX, in which case a trump lead would beat the grand? Maybe 5NT Josephine would be better, unless partner thinks it is "pick a slam".

It is sensible to play in this auction, even playing UVU generally, that 3S is forcing, and that 3D is invitational values in spades.
