Winstonm
Spade lead through the queen? If 3N makes on this layout, it is because the AKxxx is under the Qxx - on a spade lead rise with the queen and run off 9 tricks. If the spades are AJ10xxx, then the suit is blocked, of course, and rising with the Q loses. However, if partner holds the Kx, then maybe we need to be playing it from his side. If he holds xx, maybe we shouldn't be in 3NT at all. ;)

gnasher
You want it from partners side because a spade lead makes the heart finesse too risky. That doesn't seem consistent with ArtK's statement that partner has ♠Kx. What was partner's hand?
PhilKing
You want it from partners side because a spade lead makes the heart finesse too risky. I held this hand and heard 3 passes and opened 1♣ instead of 2nt. We got to 3nt with no opponent bidding but played from partners side. On the spade lead partner made 9 tricks for a bad score. My eyes are literally bleeding.
ArtK78
This was the hand: [hv=pc=n&s=sk6haqda94ckqjt86&n=sq54ht92dt7653ca7]133|200[/hv]
gnasher
If they're going to lead a spade it doesn't matter which way up we play it. Edit: Except that there's a random benefit to playing it from the weak hand. When East doesn't lead a top diamond, he probably doesn't have KQJ, so we can be more confident about the heart finesse.
