mike777
Tough match, thank you for giving it a shot....was there any signal takeaway such as we need to bid more games or other?
GreenMan
Tough match, thank you for giving it a shot....was there any signal takeaway such as we need to bid more games or other? This match seemed to follow the same theme as the couple I've played: We lose more IMPs by underbidding than by overbidding.
awm
The one comment I can make (other than pure mistakes) is that Cayne's teams seem very aggressive in slam bidding. We lose a lot of IMPs where they bid slam and we don't, or where they bid grand and we stop in a small slam. In fact this seems to hold almost regardless of what team we put up. Most of our closer matches seem to be those where few slams are available at either table, whereas the blowouts usually occur when there are many slam swings available. In some cases it appears they are very lucky (in that they bid bad slams that happen to make, or they bid a good slam in an extremely unconvincing manner) but the trend is pretty consistent. jallerton
The one comment I can make (other than pure mistakes) is that Cayne's teams seem very aggressive in slam bidding. This fact should not, by itself, decrease the BBF team's expectation of winning. Very aggressive slam bidding implies ending up in many low percentage slams, which (by definition) one would expect to be defeated more often than not. How often have we see swings to BBF when the JEC pair has gone off in slam in the other room? gszes
we have a tie break situation occurring and I will probably have to go and find the rule book toget this one right AS IT STANDS wed evening Phoenix214 (poster) Neaospsy (non poster) were first to askJillybean/Kristen 33 were second to ask But pretty low on seniority list due to recent loss.A team which would have highest priority BUT not all players have committed Diana_Eva Hrothgar MrAce and who knows???? it is the who knows that creates the problemIf we do not have a commitment from who knows by noon eastern tomorrow my intention is to go with Phoenix214 Neaospsy and DianaEva Hrothgar if that falls through backup will bephoenix214 neasopsy Jillybean Kristen33 So we have about 16 hours for the partner of MrAce to come forward and be recognized:)BTW anyone that commits and cannot make it I will do what I think is reasonable to replace them (see that darned seniority list thing I made up a while back:)))))))))))))))))))))) I am proud that finally there are some actual choices to be made
jillybean
Good luck Diana_Eva Hrothgar MrAce and #4, I'm sure we will see the 2nd BBF win. As it doesn't look like you are short of players my partner and I will be playing a CNTC qualifying game on Saturday now.

gszes
according to the "rules" since we did not have a full team by noon eastern the set up for sat 2pm eastern is Phoenix214 Neaospsy and DianaEva Hrothgar If anyone wishes to contact one pair or the other and ask them to step aside they may do sobut I will not get involved with that. This choice was based on seniority combined with first comefirst served. Please read the post I made to jillybean when that pair tried to reserve a spot butone of them had not confirmed. Same principle applied to Diana Eva team that had 3 but the 4thdid not materialize in time for the "team" to beat out Neaospsy and phoenix214 (both first timeplayers and the first to respond). Good luck all ------now excuse me while I go get the stormshutters since I have a feeling this will not be popular let the arguments fly----------------------
diana_eva
Looks like you're doing your best to discourage everyone from even trying. Finding a team of friends who also happen to be free at the same time is quite hard. Every once in a while when it happens you come hit us with some rules made out of sheer nothingness. I don't know who asked for rules at all... First you discard jallerton and finch, now you break a team. Sorry but I lost all interest in this, you might as well call it gzses vs jec for all I care. Is there any good reason why Phoenix214 and Neaospsy can't play next weekend instead? I have absolutely no objection to playing with them as team mates, however, Diana was the one putting out team together. The fact that it Mr Ace wasn't able to post to the forums in time to meet this deadline seems a bit arbitrary... diana_eva
Ah well, now that Richard quoted what I posted I won't edit it out. I guess I was a bit pissed lol. So anyway, sorry for the outburst.
MrAce
I really wanted to play this match, with Arend and Diana-Hroathgar. Due to my job i work weird hours and i do not have available time on any given day. I strongly disagree with the decision of captain of the team for various reasons similar to what Diana and Richard already said. But i will respect it and not make a huge deal about it. Arguing this will not do any of us any good. Gzsez is still doing a very tuff job and can not please everyone. Things don't go exactly how we want them sometimes, so be it. Give him some slack. He is one of us and trying to perform something which is not really fun to do. I wish the best of luck to those who will play, and i mean it http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Apparently i was late to confirm it on here, up to some rules, which i did not know. I will take the blame, sorry guys/gals.
diana_eva
45 - 72 for Jec's team. We could have done better, but it was a good game nonetheless. Funnily our opps at table 2 were timo and harmon :)
phoenix214
Thanks for the match today, we finished -27, which does not seem to bad, taking into account that we were -46 after the first 5 boards. For me personally the key board was board 9 in the match. [hv=pc=n&s=sq4ht842dtcqjt952&w=sk32haj9765dq84c7&n=st86hk3dk975cak86&e=saj975hqdaj632c43&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1d1s3c(Weak)4s5cdppp]399|300[/hv]I did the 4♠, hoping to put pressure on the opps, because now N doesnt know, if we can make 4♠, is 5♣ a good defense and so on.Under the pressure North bid 5♣, which assured we got a + score. After some mistakes by both sides it went down 3 for +500 for us. At the other table. S bid X and W bid 2♥, with their hand and played there for -1, giving our team 12 imps. This seemed like the turning point and gave us(at least me :D) some psychological comfort
hrothgar
I found board 23 where a combined 26 count produces a cold grand slam.Neither team made it past 5m [hv=pc=n&s=shk3da9542caqj742&n=sj84ha74dkt863ck3&d=s&v=0&b=1&a=1c1hdp2hp2np3dp4dp5dppp]266|200[/hv] I was happy with the start of the auction, but 5D was a lazy bid. I really should have bid 4♠ instead.
