Lead problem

Imps, solid expert opps, none vuln. You hold:

QJTxx

Jx

9xx

Jxx

Pard RHO you LHO

1....2..pass..3

3...3NT (all pass)

RHO is obviously counting on 6 diamond tricks, a heart stop and a perhaps a side ace. Do you lead pard's suit, hoping declarer has no more than 8 tricks on top, or do you try for a surprise lead of the spade queen?

Sorry.. partner bid to three level by himself, and I have an honor is his suit. I am going to lead the heart JACK. I know not leading partners suit is all the rage, and I know trusting opponents bidding more than partners is very popular too... color me old fashion.

My partner's usually forgive me when I don't lead their suit. It is highly unlikely the opps have the AK, and if they do, they probably have 9 tricks anyway.

The only time the spade works really poorly is if I catch pard with Ax or Kx. If he has Axx or Kxx, I've probably made the only lead to beat it.

At that time in the match I also wanted to keep my pard and led the heart jack. Not so hot, as E/W had

Kxx.......xx

xx.........Qxx

xxx.......AKQxxx

KQxxx...Axx

Pard let the jack run and declarer made 12 tricks. The spade queen was the good lead. We take 3 spades and heart AK. Maybe more if declarer tries to make the contract by rising with the spade king.

There is a SLIGHT case for trying the spade queen, as declarer still has 9 tricks if the black aces were interchanged. One can imagine a setup where E/W only have 8 tricks with the lead, but finding one wasn't automatic, so the SQ is perhaps the good lead here... unless RHO is bluffing his heart stopper, LOL.

Later on in the same match, after some of pard's blatant misbids, I would definitely have led the spade queen
