Endymion77
I will ask partner for his distribution via whatever methods we're playing (some sort of extended/relay Stayman usually), then set clubs or diamonds as trump depending on his minor suit holdings and bid exclusion blackwood for spades, wtp? mr1303
My BWS card says that after a transfer to a minor, a new suit shows shortage. This is a little frustrating. I will start with a transfer to diamonds and then. a) If partner shows a good hand for diamonds (and therefore must have the Q) I will bid 4S Exclusion. b) If partner shows a bad hand for diamonds, I will bid 4C. Hopefully this is natural. What happens after that depends on what partner does. But if he bids 4S, I will settle for 6C. It is not my style to bid 7 after supposedly showing a heart void on these cards.
CamHenry
Even at IMPs I might want to be in NT. Give partner Axxxx/Axxx/Qx/xx and 7NT has good play, even though partner has far less than his bid and the worst possible shape. I think transferring to diamonds, bidding Exclusion in spades, then bidding 6♣ or 7♣ has its attractions, assuming partner will understand this as pick-a-minor. Zelandakh
In BWS, a 3♠ response shows a strong hand with both minors and spade shortage. This would seem to be the default systemic response. Relay Stayman does not appear to be an option.
