JCoutts
Second last board of a close teams match, playing basic ACOL. What is the best bidding path on this hand?[hv=pc=n&w=s5hat6daqt3cakq97&e=sqt63hk742dk9542c&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1cp1dp]266|200[/hv]Past that our auction went 1♥,2♥, 4NT, 5♣, 6♦. I feel like this is unscientific as hell and there has to have been a better way to have bid wests hand.
mike777
is 3s an option in acol?
JCoutts
If it is then I'm not aware of it, started playing in October last year and just picked Jacoby 2NT response - so the partnership methods in play at this table were pretty lacking. Researching Splinters makes them seem like a good idea to pick up, I was to concerned with the bidding just going 4♦, 5♦. Which I'd be forced to pass. the hog
I would bid 3S as a splinter. Otherwise I would bid 4D.
Endymion77
Splinter for me too. If not available, reverse in hearts and then support diamonds.

At least you were on the same wavelength, for some more advanced players with hearts agreed, bids like 6♦ can be something like "Bid 7♥ with K♦" (admittedly on this auction there are other ways to ask for this with plenty of room, but there are other auctions where this is not the case)
