Trinidad
IMO Pass = 10, Double = 9. Our partnership-agreement is that 2nd-seat action is sound. So we share a cell with Fluffy and the other snakes until we learn to trust in KAA :)I'll pass and join you, Fluffy and the other snakes in jail. I will bring a deck of cards. I do think it is awfully close. The point is that double says that I want our side to declare. But I have KAA. While it is true that these are good cards for offense, they are also excellent cards to have on defense. If you give me 3x KJxx + a singleton heart then I have a boring, aceless hand that is less suited for offense than the KAA hand, but a takeout double is clear: I don't want to defend a heart contract. On the actual KAA hand I am very willing to defend against a heart contract. Then I shouldn't make a marginal takeout double. Rik
ggwhiz
Next time I see a close balancing decision say after 2♥ - p - p to me I must remember to ask if my partner is Justin or Fluffy. And if we are playing for $$, I'll bring my own deck thank you.
akwoo
Questions: 1) Is Lebensohl assumed? 2) What is the minimum for partner to jump directly over a TO double? My answers: 1) No. 2) A decent 10hcp, say ♠KQx ♥xx ♦xxx ♣KQxxx So I pass.
PhilG007
I would not bid on this hand. However I would certainly double! But double IS a bid(!)
gordontd
But double IS a bid(!) :blink:No, it is a call, not a bid - that was his point.
RGranville
In my view this is a clear-cut pass. Make the clubs Jxx and I would probably still pass, although it's now close. I realise that we might occasionally miss a game by not doubling, but it's much more likely that neither side can make anything, or that we suffer a heavy penalty.
