jmc
1D-1S-2H promises shortness somewhere & either a 3-card raise 14-15, or 4-card raise 12-13. Any of you play this method? What are the followups? Do you have a gadget for these hands after 1D-1H? This is in a precision system with a 14-16 NT, could be few as 2 one diamond opener, we open all 11's and rule of 20 hands. 1D-1M-2NT is a max 14-15 either 4-card support for M and shortness or 3-card support for the M and a 6-card diamond suit. 3C untangles with 3D showing six and 3H low shortness and 3S high shortness. 1D-1M-2M-2NT asks about strength and support. Anserws are in steps. min 3, max 3, min 4, max 4.
mattias
We play that 2H shows all hands with 4 card support. Over this responder bids 2sp to play versus an 11-13 hand. Over this sign off opener continues with all 14-15 hands, so responder's direct invites are invites against the 11-13 range. The direct raises 1D - 1S - 2S, and 1D - 1S - 2NT are unbalanced three card raises, min and max respectively. This is after a 1D opener that is either balanced or unbalanced with a four card major, but if you have another way of showing diamonds and hearts it seems to work in your case as well. A nice thing is that 3-card and 4-card raises are distinguished.
awm
Sam and I play a similar method, but I suspect our 1♦ opening shows a different set of hands from yours. We use: 1♦ - 1♠:... 2♥ = 4♠ and singleton somewhere, 11-13 or 3♠ and singleton somewhere 14-15... 2NT = 4♠ and void somewhere... 3♦ = 4♠ and singleton heart, 14-15... 3♥ = 4♠ and singleton diamond, 14-15... 3♠ = 4♠ and singleton club, 14-15 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♥:... 2♠ = to play... 2N = relay:........ 3♣ = 3-card raise 14-15, effectively GF and 3♦ asks shortage........ 3♦ = 4♠ and singleton heart, 11-13........ 3♥ = 4♠ and singleton diamond, 11-13........ 3♠ = 4♠ and singleton club, 11-13... 3m = natural and GF, often minor longer than spades 1♦ - 1♥:... 2♦ = 4♥ and singleton somewhere, 11-13, or 3♥ and singleton spade 14-15... 2♠ = 4♥ and void somewhere... 2N = 4♥ and singleton spade, 14-15... 3♦ = 4♥ and singleton diamond, 14-15... 3♥ = 4♥ and singleton club, 14-15 1♦ - 1♥ - 2♦:... 2♥ = to play... 2♠ = relay:....... 2N = 4♥ and singleton spade, 11-13....... 3♣ = 3♥ and singleton spade, 14-15....... 3♦ = 4♥ and singleton diamond, 11-13....... 3♥ = 4♥ and singleton club, 11-13... 2N = GF with 4♠... 3m = GF natural, often longer minor than hearts As may be clear from the above, our 1♦ opening includes hands with 0-1 diamond (i.e. 4414, 4315, 4405) but does not include hands with a long diamond suit (3163, 2263, etc open 2♦ natural intermediate). This makes things a lot easier for us in these auctions, and we believe our 2♦ opening is quite effective and more frequent than the "precision 2♦" opening. Of course, this probably doesn't answer your original question...
Siegmund
... and with that last post, I have now found a reason to spend half the night reading over a summary of IMprecision, and seeing why it has been so highly praised recently. :)
