Codo
I lead a club. Partner is a favourite to hold 5 spades, but I won't reach him often enough to set them up.

wyman
♣Q. If partner can give help in the suit, it doesn't matter which I lead. If not, the Q pins declarer's stiff jack, and if dummy is HJxx and declarer has stiff H, I'm not going to be able to work profitably on clubs no matter which I lead. monikrazy
wouldn't declarer be twice as likely to have a stiff A or K? and what if partner has a stiff honor
wyman
wouldn't declarer be twice as likely to have a stiff A or K? Yes. Do you gain by leading the 10 if he does? edit: yes, obviously leading the Q establishes another quick trick for declarer. But leading the 10 doesn't gain our side anything.
