You open 1 with AK,Q109xxx,A10xx,x, partner raises to 2. How would you continue?

I would bid 3 Partner has shown 6-9 points and 3+ There are 4 possibilities Partner can hold 6-7-8 or 9 points.

3asks "How good are you? Bid game if you are maximum or pass if you are minimum." It makes sense to check and confirm.

Many a contract has foundered on the reefs of assumption(!) :)

If you open 1 on most suitable "rule of 18" hands (as we do when playing a strong ), then a raise to 2 shows 6-10 HCP. IMO it is quite sensible to treat 1-2-3 as a game-try but some partnerships use it as a pre-emptive barrage.
