phoenix214
Playing a pair tournament, Red vs Red, you pick up the following cards♠:X♥:Kxxxxx♦:AJxxx♣:xOne opp is expert one is advanced(you can say that)The bidding goes - (3♠)-p-(4♠).The question, is should you bid 4NT with this hand or not(As a defense to 4♠, or as a try to make something) I think you should bid green vs red, pass red vs green, but im not too sure about equal, so maybe someone can share their thoughts on this. Thanks in advance
CamHenry
If anything I'd be more inclined to bid red-vs-green. Oppo could well be preempting on air, and I don't want to be talked out of anything. At favourable, they'll be sounder, so I consider pass. I think I bid every time, but then I bid too much. bigbenvic
At red vs red I would pass with suits that empty. The odds long term for me just don't stack up in favour of bidding. The risk of having 5+ losers is too high for me. If partner has only 1 trick for me then I am in 800 territory. between us we could have 2 or 3 tricks in defense but there isn't enough 'power' in my 6-5 to warrant forcing to the 5 level at equal vul. Also our hand isn't a wash defensively and there is no guarentee that they are making, I suspect the will but many more bad things could happen if I butt in, they could discover they have slam on or we could go for 500 when they are 1 off, or we could go for 800+ when they are making.
