billw55
Looks similar to this thread. Still 4♠ for me.
broze
Yes. Easy 4♠. Which means it's bound to be wrong here. :P
wyman
Looks similar to this thread. Still 4♠ for me. I think QT9x / xx / xx / KTxxx is a far easier 4S than this, which is flat and defensive. Do we think that our stiff heart is a ruffing value? edit: that problem was also R/W teams, rather than R/R pairs... Yes. Easy 4♠. Which means it's bound to be wrong here. :P Well, I passed at the table, but without getting into the results, I polled a lot of people and found 4S to be pretty standard. But I think a lot of time the population at large diverges from the forum at large. Like I have it in my head that MrAce is going to pass, for example :) So I was just curious. If he bids 4S, though, I will admit complete defeat.

Just that it is similar enough for my answer to be the same. As to defense, both hands have one king and one queen. Partner made a takeout double (not overcall), so I don't auto-assume the ♣Q is better than the ♠Q on defense. And sure, why shouldn't the stiff heart be a ruffing value? Do your ops always have 11 trumps on this auction?

Anyway, I am not arguing that pass is better than 4S here; I'm just saying that to me 4S looks more likely to be right on the hand you linked to than this one. mike777
4s looks normal enough here. as usual in these types of problems I assume the opps and pard are excellent players.

The opps are seriously WC. Partner is at least as good as I am. I don't consider myself an excellent player, but partner's doubles are both very normal.
