mike777
"You are playing IMPS, they are VUL and you are NV. You hold KQxx,void,AKxx,KQT9x. RHO opens 2H weak. I think we all agree that you have a very nice TEXTBOOK takeout double. LHO bids 2S which is alerted as McCABE (lead a spade if we are defending). This is very suspect at best, but the opponents are VULNERABLE so they tend not to mess around TOO much. Undiscussed, partner next says DOUBLE. It would seem logical that this shows spades (at least 4). This goes PASS --- PASS (do you agree??) --- and LHO opponent now bids 3H. Partner says DOUBLE. Pass to you?" gszes
I am not going to let some playing around keep me out of 6 possibly 7I will venture forth with 4h and see where that leads us. Lho may have a useless hand with 5/6 hearts andbeing vul they cant bid too high so why not take advantage of a convention theyare playing and see if it can muddy the waters better than a straightforward 3hbid. I admit we are in unfamiliar territory but we have no lesson to impart otherthan we are very strong and want to explore further. Hard to imagine a handp might have at this point other than something similar to our own with > 10 power and if p has a bunch of hearts the x was ill timed as they should havepassed and waited to see if we could x again.
