pbleighton
I get "Resend validation email" when I go to the Forum, starting yesterday. I am no longer recognized as a member. When I click on the "Resend validation email" link, and enter my name (pbleighton), I get the result that there are no requests pending. I can log in as me, and post, but when I close out and reenter, the same thing occurs. Rebooting my machine doesn't help. Can I fix this so that I am once again recognized when I eneter the Forum? bearmum
Have U "upgraded" to 'newer ' versions of BBO ?? As I said to the news that 3.9.9 MIGHT be available to ALL of us soon - I am QUITE happy with 3.9.3 :)
scoob
nothing to do with your BBO version as the forum and software aren't directly linked. next time you login, make sure the box to remember you is check-marked. once you do that, the only way you'll not be recognized when you come back is if you delete your browser cookies or click the "Logout" link edit: it should be noted that the link to "resend validation" is only there as a convenience in case you've lost your password, etc. you can just click the Login link instead. sceptic
PCL I get this everytime I clear out all my cookies and forget to keep the BBO one, just resend validation email and you wont have to keep logging in. I have to do it a few times as I forget how t do it usually, but if you have the email from BBO just click the links (as usual I know what I mean, it just does not come out crystal clear on occasions)
pbleighton
I can't resend the email, when I try it says there is nothing to send. I leave the radio button on remember, but it doesn't work. Peter
scoob
the "resend email validation" is only required if you did not receive your original email validation (or one you have started by changing your email address and/or password) and is in no way related to the problem you're experiencing. if you are checking the "remember me" and it isn't remembering you, the problem lies in your browser's cookie settings (or lack thereof). assuming you are using Internet Explorer, you can check your Cookie settings by clicking Tools, Internet Options. If your Privacy and/or Security tabs are showing a level higher than "Medium" this may be the cause of the problem. In most cases you can change these settings to Medium without putting yourself at any risk; alternatively, you can specify to allow cookies for this site under the Privacy tab. I checked, my Privacy level is set to Medium. I added BBO Forums (lunarpages.com) to the Sites under "Always Allow" - no improvement. I have a 2 year old XP machine. IE is 6.0. On 1/12, Windows Update installed Security Update for Windows XP (KB890175) and Malicious Software Removal Tool - January 2005 (KB890830). scoob
hmm.. mind bender. under both of those tabs, is the "Default" button clickable, or is blanked out? If it's clickable for either/both, try clicking it and then restarting your browser.

sceptic
see my post it may cure your problem, I think it is a password issue
cherdano
I have been having the same problem since quite a while, I don't know when it started. Not only does it mean that I have to re-login every time I visit, the software also doesn't remember which posts I have read and displays all threads as new. It's pretty annoying, but I don't know how to get started to do something about it (changing the password didn't help, sceptic). dogsbreath
Just to confirm .. i got the same problem. Gotta login every time ..password NOT 'remembered'. (XP pro latest SP's applied). Also ..is this the right place to ask about those irritating non-funny funnies that appear under poster's name on every post. Not a serious problem i guess , but they are irritating and add NOTHING to the forum. Rdgs Dog.

cherdano
It turns out I had cookies from 216.193.202.198 disabled. It seems changing that has fixed my problem.
hotShot
It turns out I had cookies from 216.193.202.198 disabled. It seems changing that has fixed my problem. The forum is working with a coockie based authentication, so if you have trouble this must be the reason. Maybe one of the latest "security updates" changed the setting, since it is a good idea to allow coockies, from any site.

The forum is working with a coockie based authentication, so if you have trouble this must be the reason.Turns out it's a little more complicated. The problem is that the forums server sometimes sets the cookies as lunarpages.com, and sometimes as 216.193.202.198.I have now changed my bookmark to go to 216.193.202.198, and now it works. I think this is really a bug in the way the forums server is setup. (Btw, I had the same problem with different browser -- Konqueror, Firefox -- under different OSs -- Linux, XP with SP2).
