Stephen Tu
Favorable vul, IMPs. You hold♠KQxx♥xxx♦Axx♣xxx (2♥)(1)-3♣-(4♥)-?(1) ~9-13 hcp, 6+♥, or 5♥. If exactly 5♥, 4+ cds in a minor, singleton/void somewhere, not 4 spades, not 5422 shape. Your call? How clear do you think it is?
SteveMoe
Pass. Very clear. There are 18-22 HCP remaining to be heard from. Partner will act with values that compliment this hand.

I think it is much tougher on the actual auction given, but I would double.
rhm
5♣ Not close in my opinion. At this vulnerability reasonable opponents are bidding to make. They could be wrong, but nothing in my hand suggests they are. Expect my partner to be void in hearts and therefore at least six clubs .I might double only if that was clearly defined as takeout in the partnership, but I am not sure a 4-4 spade fit if present plays better. SteveMoe
Misread the original post. Double. Transferable values. Want partner's opinion about declaring or defending.
mike777
x takeout... have no idea what transferable values means unless that is an expert way of saying takeout..
Finch
Double. High cards outside hearts, nothing suitable to bid ("transferable values")
Free
Clear Dbl imo: we have good values, 4♠ and ♣ support. We may be stretching a bit, but that's one of the reasons why people preempt.
gszes
x takeout... have no idea what transferable values means unless that is an expert way of saying takeout..values that are probably going to work just as well on defense as they are on offense. Transferable values allow one to make a tox with less power than one with a lot of quacks. for ex if this hand were QJxx xxx QJx Kxx we might consider 5c but x would seem sillysince we have far less than zero desire for our p to convert the x to penalty. The current hand with KQ A is suited well for both offense and defense making the tox a reasonablecall since it is keeping the spade suit alive and does not mind defending. Fluffy
I'd double also. At least this will put the blame of partner if it turns out badly.
Stephen Tu
Contract can be beaten on spade lead (get two spade and 2 minor aces before pitch set up). Double probably leads to 5c dbl -2, partner had seven clubs. So good result if partner wasn't going to lead spade, bad if she was?
