fred
In my view more uncomfortable than tough. I would DBL, not liking it much, planning on bidding my clubs next if partner responds 1 of a major. I would raise 1NT to 3NT with most partners and cuebid if partner responded 2C or jumped. Lots of possible competitive auctions and for sure I will have a problem on the next round with some of these. If I was a little weaker I would consider 1NT more seriously despite my diamond holding, but 1NT on the actual hand has a second flaw: this hand is too good for 1NT. 2C would be my last choice, but I know some very good players that would probably make this call their first choice. han
Reverse the colors and I'd bid 2C. How about bidding 1NT over 1M?
HeartA
I agree with Fred. BTW, I saw you bidding this hand, BridgeBoy.
Fluffy
I am very close between the 3 main options, but after all I am with the majority.
luke warm
i double also, and i'd give serious thought to 1nt over 1M by partner, which shows 19-21 hcp... the diamonds worry me some, but not much.. if i decided against 1nt, i'd bid 2c (after i double first)
pclayton
Personally I don't see much of a problem. Dbl followed by 2♣ looks like a good description. Any NT by this hand will wrong side the contract.
