fred
Version 3.9.9 is now available. I am quite confident that this version is the fastest and most stable version of BBO yet. In particular, the "white screen problem" (which could also manifest themselves as "freezes" or "crashes" on some PCs) that has plagued us for past several weeks should now be a thing of the past. We won't know this for sure until people start using 3.9.9 and reporting the results. Also, it is entirely possible that we have introduced some new bugs in 3.9.9, but I doubt that this is the case (and if it is, chances are good that such problems will be easy for us to fix). It is still possible for BBO to go into the "white screen state", but the same is true of any Windows program. What I think we have achieved with 3.9.9 is that BBO itself will not cause this to happen. If you see a white screen again, I strongly suspect that the problem is external to BBO (for example, you may be overloading your PC by running too many heavy duty programs at once or you may have a hardware or ISP problem). If you still see white screens after upgrading to BBO, let me know as I have some suggestions that might make a difference. If I had to bet on it, however, I would bet that whatever white screen reports we get will be very few and far between. Assuming 3.9.9 is as good as I think it is, our plan is to release it to the general BBO membership by autoupgrade early next week. We would very much appreciate it if as many people as possible could try this version and report any problems to me, preferrably by e-mail (fred@bridgebase.com). Thanks again to all the people who have been so helpful in testing during the past several weeks. Your contributions really made a difference. Instructions for upgrading to 3.9.3 follow: IMPORTANT!!! You must exit the BBO program COMPLETELY before you begin the update process! You can upgrade your BBO to the latest version: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta399/bbo_update.exe or download everything (including the latest files) from scratch: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta399/bbo_setup.exe Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
KiwiBridge
Yesterday attempted to log on several times. As soon as ID and password entered, BridgeBase would disappear. Saw that 3.9.9 was available, so installed it. Was then able to log on with no problems. There were 4730 people online. Have now played for several hours with no problems. inquiry
Lost movie button and results display. Today I have had a lot of problems associated with losing the movie button and not showing the running score in the main room. I have to log off and log back on to get it again, and even then, it doesn't always come back. Using 3.0.0 windows XP professional. Ben
