mike777
again many play it shows 5-4gf not 4-4gf by responder this is quite common but as I said in my post different versions exist. yes that means with 4-4 and gf responder will still skip over the d suit and may lose the suit. Again this is to find the major fit at a low level and show 5-4 at a low levelat the cost of not finding the 4-4 d fit at times. you may or may not still find your d fit via checkback depending on the the auction goes so we don't worry about losing the d fit in favor of showing 5-4: 1c=1h1nt=2d(gf cb)3d or1c=1h2c=2d(artgf)3d
Free
Imo you are mistaken about 'walsh' convention or you are playing a custom made toy and calling it 'walsh" Perhaps you are opening way too light and 15 hcp by responder is not enough for GF ? In which version of walsh, responder skips the ♦ suit and starts with major, holding 4-4 in reds, with a crystal clear GF hand ? http://en.wikipedia....alsh_conventionYou're right ofcourse, I saw one T-Walsh auction too many and I forgot about the 4 card ♦ suit... masse24
If East is willing to go to the 3-level on his rebid, he might as well make a more descriptive bid of a 3D! reverse-splinter ( some refer to it as a mini-splinter ) for ♥ . If West considers his ♦ holding as negative for slam, he might just sign-off in 4H . hmmm....never heard it referred to as a "Reverse-Splinter" --- "Mini-Splinter" or...A "Jump-Reverse" maybe. Will need to add this to my bridge lexicon. :)
