GIB passed a game-forcing 2S bid

another question why not bid 2N instead of 2♥ to show stops in both majors? KQx is great stopper, it's hard to get to 3N if you didn't have A♠.

but responder can still show 4♥ by bidding 3♥ over 2N.

 

not sure if 2♣ denied a major or not?

the explanation of 2♠ 4+♣ 3-♥ 3-♠ so I think responder has denied 4♠ with 2♣ and GIB knows its I a 3-2 fit.

 

bid also explained as 10+ perhaps GIB thinks responder has 10 pts so doesn't want to get too high

2NT isn't forcing so GIB has a bias to avoid it. 2♥ is just show in that suit. Anyway its just the atrocious programming so GIB doesn't understand forcing to game.

Fixed in v28.

 

To bid direct 2NT over 2minor GIB needs at least partial stoppers in all suits. Like Qx or Jxx combined with balanced hand of course. Won't pick with singleton A.

 

Now GIB will bid 3♠ over 2♠ with that hand. Having xxx in ♦ is not considered as stopper. So partner could bid 3NT on next round.

 

To bid 3♣ it needs 4+ and to bid 2NT it needs partial stopper in skipped suit ( diamonds here ). With Qx or Jxx it will bid 2NT showing : 3+ ♣; 11-21 HCP; 12-22 total points; partial stop in ♦; stop in ♥; forcing to 3N
