nige1
For future reference: I'm nige1 on BBO, often free on Saturdays. Like most BBOers, I would love to play (BBO 2/1, Acol, whatever) if needed. IMO, however, our long-term approach should be geared more to winning. This entails coaxing the strongest BBO players and partnerships back into the fold.
gszes
saw JEC come from 56 IMPS down with 6 boards to play and win by 3 imps sooooo if perchanceyou get ahead of them do not let off the gas one iota or they will blaze past you. JEC wants to playa strong team but they included the forums to allow for a wide range of players to benefit from theexperience of playing high level bridge (nose bleed high?) and in front of several hundredspectators watching and waiting to jump on your every move:)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Who knows maybe playing really really really really well against them might lead to future recruitment (doesthis dream happen often:)))))))))))
jillybean
[snip] and in front of several hundred spectators watching and waiting to jump on your every move:)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Kibitzers can be brutal with their comments, I am very glad that I can't see the comments as I am playing but I can imagine what some are saying about my performance. I never think about this during the game, the only thing that matters is that I am the one playing and not sitting in the peanut gallery with the rest of them. :P :P
HeavyDluxe
Wow... this is a neat thing. Sorry for arriving at the thread so late *and* for not being aware of these matches before. FWIW, I think it would be great to mix up the approach... Set up a pool of our learning pairs, a pool of our 'expert' pairs, and then alternate between 'the best' and us mere mortals. I'd love to play sometime, but would need to find a partner and would need notice. Like Jilly, I desperately want to improve, am willing to be a little embarrassed to do it, and would be thanking God that I can't see the kibber comments. :) If we do this again, I will be on a watch for the thread and at least look forward to kibitzing. If there's a need for help with organization, I would be happy to assist there, too, perhaps.
jillybean
Fantastic!! :) I will never get tired of playing these games. It's hard to believe that I can get to play against Versace (#4 in the world) and Cayne who is no slouch himself. :D :D  Made my day, thanks everyone ♥
Phil
There was a time not so long ago where we went over all if the bad boards in detail and tried to figure out how to beat JEC (and usually Apron /Moki). There was also a real sense of camaraderie where if you were on the losing side you felt really bad about your charges which were discussed here. I watched for a few hands and got disgusted after seeing one of our pairs go for 1700 and give up 990. Yes I'm part of the problem because I can rarely play on Saturdays. Perhaps we would get a better turnout if the matches were on a different time/ day.
diana_eva
Right, I really miss the discussions after :(
jillybean
I'm more than happy to post the hands for discussion and I will try to get them posted tonight. I have gone through the hands with my partner and I will try to get him to weigh in here. His analysis will be a lot more interesting than mine. To get the hands on forums I have to post them card by card and bid by bid, I don't know how toinsert the file as I could do way back on the old forums. gszes
The difference in the match was the large swings (won mostly by JEC)that swung the match. No new sessions planned until after the Atlantanationals (sometime after 8/14.
