I'll give a few options in spoliers. If you X, LHO bids 1♦, partner bids 1♥, LHO passes, back to you. If you Pass, LHO bids 1♦, partner Passes, LHO bids 1♥, back to you. If you bid 1NT, LHO passes, partner bids 2♦ as a transfer to Hearts, LHO doubles, all pass. aguahombre
1NT, and accept the transfer. I would have no temptation to pass on: (1C) 1N (P) 2D(X)..since pass would deny three hearts but also deny a diamond stopper. I guess we weren't told what the double of 2D meant in their world. In my world, it is not a takeout of diamonds unless 2D was natural. HUM comes to mind.

mike777
prefer 1nt and then 2h not pass. option2=1s
Fluffy
LHO is the one who doubles after the transfer, and I am happy to play 2♥X. My first reaction was to bid 1♠, but 1NT is close so don't mind 1♠ is not there.
Free
I would pass initially (don't like a 1♠ overcall with such a strong hand on a 4 card suit), and Dbl afterwards showing my distribution (couldn't Dbl over 1♣, so short ♥ with ♣ tolerance). gnasher
Pass, then show the hand on the next round. We actually have a choice of ways to do this: we could either double 1♥ or bid 1♠. I think 1♠ shows 4 spades and 5+ clubs, whereas double implies support for all three suits. I'd bid 1♠.
gnasher
Now that I've looked at the full hand, I don't agree with your predictions about the auctions. If I double, partner will bid a lot more than 1♥. If I pass and LHO bids 1♦, partner will bid his hearts at some level (I like 2♥, but 1♥ is normal).
Fluffy
I like 4♥ over double, double fit, good suits and partner's strength sits over opener. Perhaps after 1♦ we can downgrade a bit
gwnn
I would pass then x then likely get rich. And gnasher is right, partner should bid 1H or maybe 2H over 1C-p-1D.

JLOGIC
Wouldn't have thought it would be this popular but I like passing at this vul a lot.

gszes
At these colors I prefer pass since we will not have a game if p cannotact over 1c p p. If the bidding goes that way I think I would prefer the oppsbeing in 1C than any other denomination. Lots of easy rebids if the auctiondoes not die at 1c. chasetb
When I posted it I meant to add in 1♠, but in a rush to make it to bed to do Vugraph today in the morning I simply forgot to include it.

HUM comes to mind.I cannot believe you have not seen this method before: Double = takeout of diamonds; ask and double = takeout of hearts. Some play the direct double as showing diamonds instead. More generally, are we really better placed after (1♣) - P - (1♦) - 1♥; (P) than having started with a 1NT overcall? In my world, passing the double of the transfer just shows <3 hearts without the extra stopper-denying requirement.
