Seeking White Screen Data

Recommended Posts

Thanks to my friendship with Bill Gates, we have a team of some of Microsoft's best technical people working on the white screen problem.

They believe that it is not the BBO application itself that is causing the problem, but that it is the result of something external to BBO which interferes with BBO's smooth operation when our system gets busy. Now they are trying to figure out what that something might be.

In order to learn this it is necessary to collect some data about the computer configurations, installed software, firewalls, etc... from the people who experience white screen problems. If all of these people have something in common, then they will have a very good idea as what is going on (and then be able to suggest a solution).

If you experience white screens and run either Windows XP or Windows 2000, we would very much appreciate it if you could download and run the following program:

Click here to download diagnostic program

This program will not work if you run Windows 95, 98, or ME - do not even bother trying.

This program will create a report containing information about the hardware and software on your PC. If you could then e-mail the file that is created to me (fred@bridgebase.com), I will send it on to the Microsoft engineers.

I understand that some of you may not be comfortable about running a program of this sort, but I have every reason to believe there is nothing to fear. I have run the program myself if that makes you feel better. This is not spyware or anything and, if Microsoft really wanted to spy on you, they could easily do so without having to go to all this trouble.

These are good people and they are really trying to help us.

The only extra incentive I can add (besides helping to get rid of the white screen) to possible testers is that these tests may well reveal that there is something wrong with the PCs of the people who have white screens. If that was the case for me, I would certainly want to know what the problem was and take whatever steps were necessary to fix it.

I suggest that you do not get involved in this test unless you have at least moderately good computer skills (ie you are comfortable with the process of downloading and opening files and understand concepts like files and folders).

Thanks in advance to whoever is willing to help us with this test. The more people who get involved the better our chances of solving this problem quickly.
