Winstonm
Vulnerable against Nonvulnerable you hold: AQ87532, 8, J1074, 3 Against reasonable opponents and playing with a solid partner you here: W N E S1H P 4NT P5D x 5H ? Do you make a call? What if the vulnerability were different?
flytoox
No when we are red. They are off two aces so their 5H is not even cold. East, if he is good, should have singleton spade. We may have double fit. Still I dont think I will come in at this level. If we are white vs red, I might venture sth exciting.
Free
No, opponents who bid like this aren't "reasonable", so let them play their contract very poor and -1 or more...
Winstonm
Think the opponents can be considered reasonable when they hold: KJ AJ10xx Kx J10xx AQ87xxx 10xx x x J10xx AQ9xxx x xxx x KQxxx x AKQxxx Wrong. It would be unreasonable to bid anything other than 4NT and partner's diamond x is normal.

Free
KJ AJ10xx Kx J10xx x KQxxx x AKQxxx Unreasonable to bid anything other than 4NT. Sorry but I disagree... Btw, you might take a look at all those buttons above the editor, there you can easily instert full hands, 2 hands, 1 hand and 1 suit which have a VERY nice layout B) : [hv=d=n&v=e&n=skjhajtxxdkxcjtxx&w=saq87xxxhxdjtxxcx&e=stxxhxdaq9xxxcxxx&s=sxhkqxxxdxcakqxxx]399|300|[/hv] very nice feature :(

firechief
I kind of like a 5 spade bid here. Even if we're going down, it's not at all clear RHO won't consider bidding on to 6h for safety. The 4nt bid is very likely to be very distributional in hearts and clubs. Partner might even be void in hearts! I think partner's double of 5d rates to include AQ long. I'm not claiming that bidding on to 5s is at all clear, it's surely a gamble. I'm gonna go for it, tho...this is a little bit like poker at the bridge table :huh:Joel
Winstonm
Free. Thanks for advice on the buttons. I didn't know how all that worked. :-). WinstonM Firechief and Helium. Helium, I like your moxy but this should not be considered a weak bid by E/W. Firechief, you are dead on. What other hands from reasonable opponents make sense but Club/Heart 2-suiter with East holding two red suit singletons and AKQxx(x) of clubs? To Everyone: I suggest on this site you read Fred Gitelman's article on tactical bidding. :-)) WinstonM
