gwnn
double over 1♥ would have been helpful.
Cyberyeti
I'm one of the few people about who could have overcalled 2♣ to show 5+♦/4♠, but failing that X must be better than 2♦. After 2♦ there's no recovery.
ggwhiz
2♦ is an all eggs in one basket bid. I can think of a lot of hands where it goes 2♥ back to you and you might belong in spades but it's a huge risk to back into them. Double first and you can pretty much fold your cards and put them in your pocket, a transfer of responsibility.

Codo
If your religious beliefs forbids a double first round, you need to bid 4 ♠ when it is your second turn.If you think that this is crazy- I do- better rethink your religious beliefs about bidding 2 ♦.... MrAce
This topic If your religious beliefs forbids a double first round, you need to bid 4 ♠ when it is your second turn.If you think that this is crazy- I do- better rethink your religious beliefs about bidding 2 ♦.... Another topic from yesterday Maybe because Gonzalo Hanoi had not had this bid avaiable and want us to decide what to do under these circumstances? Although consistency requires a man to be as ignorant today, as he was in the past, i still think such a quick enlightment in 1 day is hillarious :D
