inquiry
What is 3NT. A jump to 2NT is the big balanced hand not right for 2NT or 2♣ opening followed by some number of NT. So a jump to 3NT is usually a running suit (the one opened) and stoppers in the other suits. Here, partner can not have a "running" club suit, unless he thinks AKJ9xxx is a running suit. I guess I would bid again, but I wonder what the agreement is here for 3NT.

awm
Depends a bit on who partner is; I know some people who like to bid 3NT with 19 hcp balanced even though 2NT rebid should show that hand. Assuming partner isn't one of this sort, the 3NT bid should show a semi-balanced hand or short diamonds hand with 6-7♣ and max values. Opposite such a hand, we have a huge club fit and it must be worth at least another try at slam. Partner might have say ♠AQx ♥AJx ♦x ♣AKJxxx. gszes
4c natural and forcing but not only that but at least onedecent reason to fear 3n. P felt the general limit of thehand would be 3n based on your passed hand status(and they dont go looking for miracles thats what your bidding is for). This hand has just enough power toconsider not just 4n but 5c and even 6c but it takesa decent follow up system. IMO p bids 4n to show adequate stoppers in the majorsand no slam interest. The down side is if they don't have great major stoppers they will have to use the biddingto show that somehow and give the opps some insidertrading information they don't deserve. If p weak majoris hearts we don't care much since we have 5c and even 6c as possible contracts. If their weak suit is spades ickkkwe have just given the opps a great chance to x for a leadthat might be the most damaging. good luck
