Free
Friday at one of my local clubs, the first hand I was dealt was already an interesting one: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=skxxh9xxxdajxcjxx&w=sqjxhjxxdxxxcxxxx&e=satxxxhqdqxxxcqxx&s=sxxhaktxxdkxxcakx]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] Bidding was:pass - pass - pass - 1♥pass - 3♣* - pass - 4♥all pass(*) 6-9HCP 4+♥ LHO (my favorite f2f partner) leads ♠Q which held. He was afraid of me having ♠10 (he knows me too well  ) so he switched to trumps. I also cashed ♥K and RHO discarded a low ♦ (they play standard discards). So I was thinking: this contract is impossible to make, since I'll always lose another ♠ and a ♥, and if I have to play ♣ myself I'll lose another one there. So I went for the 'safety' play and cashed ♦AK and exited ♦J (because I know RHO a little as well). My RHO had a nice falsecard, but it didn't work, and he had to bring my 9th trick. He tried ♣ but my J was high enough.ALL other pairs went -2 :P
mila85
Very nice. Safety one down:) But if both minor queens had west you would be only one who made only 8 tricks.
