wyman
lead the heart 10 against however many notrump they end up in, or against 6m lead your stiff and hope for the best if it seems they are missing an ace.
mikeh
Depends on partnership agreements. I play astro overcalls in some partnerships and I'd be delighted that I could overcall 2♥, showing the majors. I play suction in others, and now I don't like bidding. Double, diamonds or the majors, simply gives them two extra calls: pass and redouble and good partnerships know how to use those calls. Since I am giving rather than taking bidding space, I'd rather pass. At favourable I'd bid 3♣, in suction, again diamonds or the majors, but at equal I think this is too high a risk compared to the reward. Not only am I giving them a roadmap, but they'll have less difficulty nailing me at the 3 level than at the 2 level. Playing natural, it is probably best to pass, but I doubt that I could make myself do it: I am sure I'd bid 2♥ at the table. Btw, my experience is that non-experts often screw up their strong auctions. That suggests there is little need to get very active, while good pairs know how to take advantage of penalty opportunities or how to play the hand once an opp makes a shape revealing call. So all in all, and despite a Bols Bridge Tip by the late Grant Baze (6-5, come alive), this hand isn't that exciting to me. So all in all, I'd bid if a 2-level bid (but not double) showed the majors and would bid 2♥ if that were natural and would otherwise pass. Others = Natural (And the same over strong 1♣ except that 1N = minors).
the hog
I would pass. Why give the opps a plan for the distribution?
Cyberyeti
I would pass. Why give the opps a plan for the distribution?Because with the majors partner might be able to outbid their 6/7m and they may not be able to bid or make in NT, they certainly may not be able to determine this if the auction gets ugly fast. I bid 2N (2 suiter without clubs) in our system.
