inquiry
No. BBO does not condone "fighting back", nor the rude behavior you are wanting to fight back against. My mother used the old cliché, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. This is the right approach, with one caveat. Report the bad behavior to abuse at bridgebase dot com replace at with @ replace dot with a period. Abuse will investigate the alleged rude behavior and then take any necessary steps after the investigation.

barmar
Are you asking about bridge in general (this is the General Bridge Forum) or just about BBO (so I should move the thread to the General BBO Forum)?
EricK
The best way to fight back against players who are rude about the mistakes you make is to make fewer mistakes. That's what I keep telling my partner, anyway. But he refuses to co-operate.

diana_eva
I think you are over reacting. It's just a web page, not the world war - turn it off if you find it THAT disturbing. You can mark rude players as enemies, this blocks them from contacting you. You can report rude behaviour to abuse. Fighting back does not help, it only exacerbates overall rudeness. In general BBO is a nice place. Make some friends, play with them.
P_Marlowe
Hi, can you fight back? Sure. Minimise the times you play against rude persons. #1 mark those that are rude as enemies, dont play again#2 if you find the TD reaction / the crowd playing the tournament unfriendly, dont play it again. With kind regardsMarlowe

Or that saying nothing to a rude player is the moral equivalent of "Peace for our time?" :)
barmar
I have a dream that one day in the fiber optic wires of the Internet, the sons of former Polish Clubbers and the sons of former Standard Americans will be able to sit down together at the bridge table of brotherhood. Apologies to MLK, Jr.
