I bid 4

I have no idea why RHO did not bid 4 previous round, but i have seen and heard so many weird/odd excuses for this delayed raise that i do not even pay attention anymore why.

I also have seen the opponents and pds of Fluffy in past topics, and what they are capable of. I will just look at my hand do what i think is right and ignore everything else at the table http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

rho is probably making a mild slam try passing first then

bidding 4h this is usually done with a distributional hand

vs a stronger balanced hand where a xx serves nicely to

tell p about your overwhelming power and a direct 4h being

merely an attempt to make 4h and nothing more.

partner's x and your couple of queens should mean the

opps have little chance at slam but that measn 4h may be

entirely too easy for them while 4s will rarely be more than

down 2.

4s

to give the opps a tougher choice and let them play 5h if they

bid it since we might set it.

Partner doesn t bid 3 NT. So he s either to weak for 3NT or he has no heart values. So I think, the possibility that either 4 spades or 4 hearts or both have a good chance, is very high.

I think at IMPs bidding is clear cut. At MP passing might be successful but I would bid, too.

I´d thank east for the chance to show a weak 4 spade bid now. It would be very much more difficult, if east bid 4 hearts directly. Partner might think that I ve more defense when opps bid 5 hearts after a direct 4 spade bid.

"rho is probably making a mild slam try passing first "

wtf?

interesting i would generally be more than happy to play 3h x making

2 possibly 3 doubled overtricks with little or no risk and would be very

happy to play 3hx if i had a mild slam try so I pass and see what happens

next before commiting myself. I am unlimited here and the extra information

I get in the bidding may help me decide what to do next.

This is in conjunction with general pass and pull theory. With extra

values there is usually little hurry to show them when playing a doubled

contract will be of huge benefit. My partners range for 3h is still kind of

large especially when it comes to distribution so by passing first then

bidding 4h or even 5h i am soliciting p opinion about 6. A delayed 4h

bid has little to nothing to be gained if it is not a mild slam try. I had one

hand in 250 where I could not x 3s but would be willing to x 4s?? I wanted

to give the opps another chance to bid a spade game they missed the

first time?? Sorry not buying it--I usually agree strongly with most of your

opinions not this time though.

I passed too quickly and was the only one on the room to let 4 make.

RHO had something like

Ax

Kxx

xxx

AK10xx

4 made the 10 obvious tricks after losing the first 3 diamonds, and 4 would lose 1, 1 and probably 3 after a ruff, that is, if 5 wasn't bid which also happened on a few tables.
