More than game?

I'm confused. Why can't we cater for both? Anyway, I appear to have an easy 3 bid, so WTP.

We could be cold for 7 opposite not much or cold for 6 with 3NT down. Alternatively 3NT could very easily be the limit. I will respect 3NT.

I agree p did not deny 4 spades when they bid 2h bidding 3d now not only keeps

spades in the picture but pinpoints clubs as a probable weak spot for 3n. If p

cannot bid 3n the value of our hand rises significantly and we can start thinking

dia slam (or spades). If you are playing a system where a 3d bid by you is a sign

off (kind of rare) it might be better if you bid 3n.

Bid 3 . It's your best chance to get to the right game. Partner will know you are either 4-5, 4-6 in the pointed suits or have a forcing hand with a suit.

3 NT is a crap shoot. You might be OK if pard has stops. If not, it might get pretty embarassing if the opponents run off 5 or 6 tricks.

Opposite a weak NT it's quite sensible particularly at pairs to play 3m as a signoff after stayman, not so much opposite a strong NT.

Better still to play (after 1NT - 2; 2) 2NT as a puppet to 3 and 3 as a puppet to 3. Now you get both the sign off and GF meanings together in a single call. You just have to rearrange a couple of things to free up the 2NT rebid.

Yes, you have to play 1N-2-2-2 as your 2N raise with 4 spades, we have a different use for that sequence that we don't want to lose.
