Partner leads the spade T to declarer's Q. Declarer plays three rounds of diamonds, turning up with ♦AQ9 and partner following. What do you pitch on the 4th round of diamonds? Thiros
If partner has a jack in the right place and is able to get in with it to lead another spade through.... I'll go with the ♥Q.
gnasher
I assume it's IMPs. I agree with throwing ♥Q, but I don't think it should work. Suppose that declarer has Qxx AKxx AQx Qxx. I throw ♥Q, but declarer throws a heart, plays a club to the queen, cashes ♥AK, and plays a black suit to endplay me. I could play declarer for Qxx AKxxx AQx Qx, by throwing ♥Q and then playing ♣A when he leads one. But if he has this hand he's misplayed it - he could have used dummy's two diamond entries to lead hearts through me twice. In fact, that would be true even if he didn't have ♣Q. JLOGIC
judging by the title declarer can always make but we have to make the hardest play for him. If I pitch a heart declarer has a claim via club and AK of hearts and endplay me. I need to pitch a spade, and hope he plays me for 5332. He will play a club and AK of hearts loses to that shape (I will unblock hearts), so he will have to guess.

Martel against Cheek/Moss against Willenken Meckstroth cashed ♥A before cashing the diamonds, possibly a stronger play:Meck vs Dwyer/Kranyak vs Levin

Zia against Cheek/Moss against Willenken Meckstroth cashed ♥A before cashing the diamonds, possibly a stronger play:Meck vs Dwyer/Kranyak vs Levin Hand record says Martel was playing it rather than Zia. At the Moss table, I must be being thick, because it looks like two down at trick 8. Oh lol, just spotted the spade discard by East.
