manudude03
What did the ♠9 imply? Top of nothing? Attitude lead? Something else? Coded= 0 or 2 higher. My gut is to attack hearts first finessing against East. The defense will probably be helpless to play clubs for us later on regardless, while if we play clubs first, there's a danger that clubs are 5-2 and they duck the first. gszes
so much work to be done and we need a fair amount of luck.I will start with a low heat toward the 9. I really dont want anotherspade from lho at this point as the opening lead may have hitour weak spot. I want to delay playing the spade suit further until I have a good idea how many tricks i need there. A dia return fromrho (if they win the heart Q) is no great thing for me either but at leastI can rise with the K (i said i needed luck and lost the heart finesse)and maybe create some confusion about what i am holding. CSGibson
I would go after 1 round of clubs. If they duck, I will switch to hearts, but I want to get at least one club trick now, and possibly watch for signals on how that suit is dividing. I also don't really want to commit to playing hearts right away, because it is always possible that RHO will take a club and switch to a diamond, and I might get some sort of count on that suit also. Finally, playing on hearts right away has the potential to hurt our communication.

Why?[/hv] You hope to make 2 x ♠ , 4 X ♥, 2 X ♣ and the game-going trick in a pointed suit. Perhaps you should drive out ♣A first, trying to postpone the ♥Q guess. If LHO has ♦A and RHO has ♠Q, then defenders are likely to defeat you by several tricks. There is no great hurry to lose an additional undertrick by misguessing hearts early. Finch
maybe I'm missing something but even if you get hearts right you still only have 8 tricks.I might well start by ducking a diamond to see what happens next
