Conventions

Recommended Posts

Fred, I would love to be able to download from BBO the following lessons, done in the style of the 2/1 CD mike lawrence or deal of the week format or the format you seem to do so well

At I may say a very reasonable price i.e $5 for (5 -10) hands (don't faint at the price suggestion just yet) use BBO $ to pay and make them all downloadable

1/. Stayman.

2/. Blackwood

3/. michaels cue bid convention

4/. Lebensohl variants i.e. over weak two, over NT inteference, over reverses

5/. and every other convention under the sun

I bet you find a lot of people will buy this as it is so cheap,

pile it high sell it cheap, make big bucks LOL

One issue I have spoken with friends about ( lets use mike lawrence CD as an example)

learning via software can be boring and uninspiring for hours and hours, so give em what they want short 45 - 60 minute tuition, this maintains interest and will get them coming back for more.

There is a Mike Lawrence's Conventions CD, has been a while, so I don't remember what is inside. There is a bunch of conventions in the CD, but I doubt every other under the sun is, somehow :)

Just checked it. Lebensohl is not there. The other you mention, and several others, are.

CD the called "Conventions and the judgement to make them work"

It is organized on

  1. Responding to an Opening Notrump bid (Stayman)
  2. More on responding to an Opening Notrump bid
  3. Raising Partner
  4. Passed hand Bidding
  5. Strong Two Club Opening Bid
  6. Asking for Aces (BW)
  7. Doubles
  8. After opponent's takeout double
  9. Interfering and coping with Interference (2-suited bids are here)
  10. Miscellany

CD comes with several hands on each topic, same style as 2/1 CD.

There are summaries of these conventions you can buy at tourneys. The cost is around $3 each. Its is a 4 page fold out card that gives a description and some illustrated hands.

I think what sceptic is suggesting is a digital summary of these. Due to the popularity, I think this would be a big hit, especially if the price point is low.

What I was suggesting is the ability to purchase (cheaply hahaa I will keep on at the price as important as a consumer) and download the Brozel convention (this is a convention I know nothing about, but I see quite a few BILies and people with it on their profile.

something like 5 - 10 hands or whatever is needed to expalin he convention (the convention is imaterial) of example hands, I believe there is a market for this type of thing, I myself am not the best reader in the world and occasionally I read about a convention and I am totally lost as to getting my head around the concept the author is trying to make.

but when I watch it begining explained with a few sample hands and have the ability to watch the cards being played all of a sudden I start to get the idea.

I think it is very marketable, may be a survey is needed to assess whether anyone else thinks this is a good idea and fred can make some money and we can learn new conventions at our leisure anyway this is just my wish for the new year
