wyman
MP r/wDid I go overboard opening this 1S instead of 2C? AKQTxx / void / KQ / Axxxx 1S (4H) P (P)? If you bid 4S, RHO will balance 5H and you're up again.
fromageGB
Happy with 1♠. Given the long suits around, I would X and pass partner's 5♦, but hoping for penalty.
biggerclub
With three losers (only -- you needn't worry about the 4th and 5th d usually) and a self-standing suit, you must open 2c. 2c (4h) p p4s (p) p 5H Now you can (forcing) pass in good conscience. As written: 1s (4h) p p 4s (p) p (5h) you must guess and I would guess 5s.
rogerclee
I would have opened 2C since my spades are so amazing and I should have no rebid problems. If you open 1S you are committed to bidding only 4S over 4H. If they balance 5H it's pretty awkward but I'm inclined to guess to bid 5S even though it feels weird, club card one time pard.
