fred
Sorry - Version 3.9.5 is not working properly. We have deleted the setup files for it so please don't attempt to download it. Hopefully we will have another new version soon.... As you may have read in other forums posts, some people experienced crashes at either random times or when the exited BBO when using the recently released 3.9.4 beta. I have a theory about what was causing these crashes, but I really need some help to find out if I am right. Version 3.9.5 is now available and I would greatly appreciate it if people would start using it and let me (either by posting here or e-mailing fred@bridgebase.com) if they experience any crashes or other strange problems. This really is important - if Uday and I do not solve the performance problems that have resulted from the rapid growth of our membership, there is a real danger that all of our members will suffer significant performance problems in the near future. The recent new versions contain some definite improvements in this area, but we need to get it working properly before we can distribute it to the general membership. Time is not exactly on our side - there were over 5300 people logged in at peak time yesterday and we have no idea how many there will be by next Sunday (which is always our busiest day). Once the number gets to a certain size (we are not certain what it is but we think we are close), it will mean big trouble for us and BBO. Unless we can get the new version in good working order before that happens.... If you are concerned about trying the new version because the possible crashes might disrupt your bridge games, I suggest you just use it for things like kibitzing and sitting in the lobby. You can always revert to the existing official version (3.9.3) by downloading and installing it from the official web site (www.bridgebase.com/online. Here is what you should do if you want to help us save the world: IMPORTANT!!! You must exit the BBO program COMPLETELY before you begin the update process! You can upgrade your BBO to the latest version: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta395/bbo_update.exe or download everything (including the latest files) from scratch: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta395/bbo_setup.exe Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
