How?
ArtK78
There are two issues here. The first is whether 4♠ is enough with the West cards. West has a great hand opposite a partner who showed values which rate to be outside of hearts. A 4♥ bid is not out of the question. This might lead to finding the 4-4 diamond fit which would not be good. The second issue is whether you want to be in slam on these cards. On the expected heart lead, other than the club suit coming in, slam has very little play. So being in 4♠ is not the worst thing in the world. gnasher
6♠ has very good chances. On a heart lead it makes when clubs are 3-3, when ♣J is doubleton, and when South guards both minors. I'd guess that's about 80%, given the 3♥ overcall.
JLOGIC
It's just very tough given that partner is a passed hand I think. Honestly if west decided to bid a lot he'd be angling 100 % for 6D, he would never be thinking 6S. Obviously getting to 6D wouldn't be a good result lol. benlessard
I would bid 3S instead of a take-out double. But i know ill be alone on this island. Raising on 2 card is really not trendy but ive rarely regretted it. The good thing about that style is that a takeout double often become stiff in partner suit or semi-penalty. So vs take out-X hand like KxxxxxxxKxxAQ are WTP 4D
