straube
This structure is meant for passed hand bidding. One question I have is whether an invitational hand should show a side 4-cd minor along with a 5-cd major which risks being at the 3-level with no fit. I think not personally, but throwing it out there. This is loosely based on Meckwell which I think works pretty well here. One consideration is memory load and I kind of hate having one Smolen bid thrown in there. Suggestions? .....2C-stayman with a major..........2D-no major...............2H-garbage stayman, likely 4/4, just transfer with 5/4 or 4/5....................2S-GI 5+S, could have four hearts.........................2N-GI.........................3C-GI.........................3D-GI.........................3H-GF Smolen.....2D-transfer..........2H-...............2S-artificial GI ...............2N-GI+ clubs...............3C-GI+ diamonds...............3D-GI+ four spades...............3H-GI.....2H-transfer..........2S-...............2N-GI+ clubs....................3C-GI+ diamonds....................3D-GI+ five hearts .....2S-size ask..........2N-Puppet Stayman...............3C-not 4333....................3S-1-3-(54).....3C-transfer..........3D-...............3H-5m/5m, high short...............3S-5m/5m. low short.....3D-shortness.....3H-shortness.....3S-shortness
1eyedjack
So you can show a shortage in any suit except Clubs? I assume that this is all intended for use opposite a strong 1N? The strength of opener tends to be less critical opposite a non-passed responder, but when responder is a passed hand this makes a big difference. Quite unlikely to have a GF hand opposite a weak 1N, for example.

We can show club shortage after a 2S size-asking bid (responder rebids 3D to show club shortness)
