CamHenry
Double isn't perfect but is less bad than any alternative. Also, "no".

MrAce
Dbl and no, i would correct 4♣ to 4♦. pd then knows i am less than direct 4♦ but close to it.
Codo
With switched minors I had a horrible problem... But even now it is tricky. Any ideas what to do over partners possible 5 club bid?! But I will still double. Partner may pass or bid 3 NT or 4 Spades. Enough good things which may happen...

For that matter, what will I do if partner bids diamonds?
ArtK78
After I double, what will I do if partner bids 5♣? I will pass. After I double, what will I do if partner bids 4♦? I will raise. Are these actions guaranteed to lead to a good result? Certainly not, but they seem to be the best actions available. By the way, the classic (pre negative double) way to handle this hand would be to pass and back in with 4♦ or 5♦ after partner balances. I would not strongly object to that strategy here. A direct 4♦ is certainly an overbid with no first round controls. I have not decided yet whether it is right to just bid 4♦ after partner balances (certainly an underbid) or jump to 5♦ (possibly hanging partner for balancing). P_Marlowe
This is either pass or X, 4D would be forcing to game, which may be your best bet, but I would not make the bid. I would go with pass. With kind regardsMarlowe
gszes
I always worry about misfits and the damage that may result fromoverbidding. Here seems to be a classic case. We are not prepared for clubs and would have no idea what to do over 3s if we X here. Imight be tempted at favorable at MP to x because its only a board. At IMPS we are extremely unlikely to be missing a game if p cannot actover 3h. That alone convinces me to not worry too much about having to stick my neck out immediately. A pass is no surefire path to successsince p could have a dia fit a stiff heart and 5d or even 6 make easily butthat is a rather small % chance where p would feel uncomfortable backingin with an over 3h. X is optimistic and fails to take into consideration the 3h bid makingopener's hand worse.
PhilKing
The biggest upside for doubling is that it gets us to 3NT when partner has a moderate balanced hand. And I expect partner to rack it up with absolutely no problem whatsoever.

Zelandakh
Modified original poll to add option of Double. Two original "something else" votes that can't be changed appear to belong in Double.Pro Tip: in situations like this (too late now but for next time): copy the text from the "Other" entry and then edit it to "Double". Then create a new poll response and paste the "Other" text there. Your poll responses will now be correct.

We might wait a long time before that would be the case again.
