jota981
HiI am aware that many play transfer responses to a 1C opener, but can one legally play transfer responses to an artificial 1D opener too? (the 1D opener shows 12-14 hcp, unbalanced, ANY shape). If so, are they legal under the ACBL GCC ?It's not clear to me, and I thought I knew the GCC backwards by now. Thanks
mycroft
Transfers after a (non-strong) 1♣ opener (that are not GF,...) are not GCC legal; same with this 1♦ (as it does not promise 15, and I assume is passable). In fact, you don't have an artificial negative, either, so I'm betting it's passable :-) Those that play Transfer-Walsh in the ACBL are doing it at MidChart or higher games. chasetb
Mycroft is right, but with one tiny detail - over 1♣ that doesn't promise 15+ HCP, 1♦ can be used artificially as a transfer. EDIT (14 days later) - I didn't say that you had to transfer TO HEARTS, Spades is a possibility. In fact, a few Moscito-like systems use the 1♦ opening to promise 4+ Spades and deny 4+ Hearts. 1♥ shows 4+ Hearts and denies 4+ Spades ; 1♠ promises at least 4-4 Majors. mycroft
Well, yeah. But with diamonds showing hearts (or some other suit), and hearts showing hearts, I'm not sure it's that useful. And 1♣-1♦ can't be passed if it's artificial :-)
