inquiry
Pass, or if you prefer, nay.
Lord Molyb
Nay bid.
ArtK78
Even thinking about bidding is a misbid.
the_clown
I would pass, but I dont think X is insane. If the spade Ace was in some of the minors I would surely X.
the hog
Nay.
rogerclee
I would pass but I definitely do not consider it "insane" to bid.
billw55
I pass, and also do not consider bidding insane, only moderately drunk.
ggwhiz
Pass but I do consider bidding to be insane in that it's insulting to pards balancing skills.
Free
Too weak for my taste, easy nay.
rmnka447
Pass/nay, not even close.
Fluffy
I need another queen to even think about it, and I would reject it then
broze
Yep, as I thought I need to rearrange my thinking in this spot. I doubled eventually worried about 2S-3S-AP and thinking 'what's the worst that can happen?' Apparently (2♠)-Dbl-(3♠)-4♦-(P)-P-(Dbl)-AP off two, -300 against nothing is... JLOGIC
I like double, it is normal with 1 more jack so it can't be that insane. Having 5 hearts is a plus (more game chances), as well as quick tricks.
Free
Apparently (2♠)-Dbl-(3♠)-4♦-(P)-P-(Dbl)-AP off two, -300 against nothing is...And that's because partner's 4♦ bid was the sane thing to do?
broze
And that's because partner's 4♦ bid was the sane thing to do? This was the full hand: [hv=pc=n&s=sa8hk9843dj82ck95&w=sjt94hq2dkqt5cqt6&n=s7hat6da9643cj432&e=skq6532hj75d7ca87&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=2sd3s4dppdppp]399|300[/hv] I couldn't really fault partner for 4♦ (although probably dbl has something going for it) and agreed in the post-mortem that I was probs a bit light but I really thought it was a lot closer than the poll suggests! E.g. If the A♠ was in any other suit it would be clear to bid; any other vul I would surely pass.
gszes
While it may not work out any better---this hand is a much safer balancing x thandirext----the opps are vul and if the bidding goes 2s p 3s p p both opps are weaksince they didnt try for a vul game------------- the direct x has a much greater risk vs reward--lho is unlimited you could be facing a xx and a sledge hammer awaitingyou and you have very few values to compete on the 3 level not vulnerable doesnot mean invulnerable.
