mr1303
Yesterday at the Ace of Clubs BC I started off playing Polish club for the first time in a long time. I held the following on the following bidding sequence. [hv=pc=n&s=sa6hakq73dk5caq95&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1cp1dp2dp2hp3hppp]133|200[/hv] My understanding of Polish Club is that 2D after a 1D response was game forcing, and that 2H was a waiting bid, similar to 2C 2D playing SAYC. 3H should therefore be forcing? +170 wasn't a bad score, since partner was broke, but I'd still like to know how to force if 3H isn't forcing. dcrc2
3♥ is definitely forcing. If you've got a strong hand with hearts but not a game force, you bid 1♥ or 2♥ on the previous round, rather than 2♦.
the hog
You are correct. 2D here is the equivalent of a 2C opening in Standard. Your partner clearly does not know the system.
rhm
The sequence is clearly forcing in basic Polish club. After 1♣-1♦-2♦ I am considering at the moment playing 2♠ as a double negative, responder having at most 3 HCP and no king. Otherwise responders waiting rebid is 2♥ 2NT or a simple suit bids by opener could be played as not forcing after a 2♠ rebid from responder. Has anybody tested a similar structure? (I am aware of Matula's one) Rainer Herrmann
Zelandakh
An interesting option that we have discussed here before is to reverse these bids in Benji style. That is, the 2♦ rebid shows something along the lines of an Acol 2 (semi-forcing) and the direct 2M/3m bids are GF. If you do this then you can play the 2♥ rebid over 2♦ as negative and non-forcing.
